In memory of Gary Karner

The Bay Foundation Board of Directors would like to honor the service of a former Board member, Gary Eugene Karner. Gary passed away at his Los Osos home on Monday, November 23rd, 2020 due to pancreatic cancer.

Gary Karner served on the Board of the Bay Foundation for 18 years, from 1995 (when the Estuary Program was approved by EPA) to 2013. Gary brought a wealth of investment and financial management acumen to the Board, as well as a passion for water quality and sedimentation in the bay. Gary supported a number of efforts to improve the capacity and stability of the Bay Foundation, including getting alternative funding structures in place and developing sound investment approaches.
